SYSLOG2.NLM (V0.2)

André Schild 1999.06.29

SyslogD is a simple syslog daemon who runns on any netware server.

Syslogd is a small utility who receive all messages sent to port 514. It displays them on the screen and stores them in the file syslogd.log.

This NLM in this release 0.2 is emailware. So if you use it, please send me a message with some feedback about the product. If there are a lot of users, I will consider to make a full syslogd implementation available as shareware.

Special notes: When unloading syslogd one BSD socket and a file handle are not returned to the system. This is normal and should not cause problems on the servers. But I recomend to NOT unload the NLM once it has been loaded.

The NLM has been renamed from SYSLOGD.NLM to SYSLOG2.NLN, since Novell shipps a file with the same name in the IMS Beta 2.x

The logfile is located in SYS:SYSLOGD.LOG. You can specify a new location on the commandline. (Full path+filename)

The logfile is automaticaly cycled, when it exceeds 1024kBytes. The current logfile is renamed to .old and a new logfile is started.
