MTWIN THE solution for your INI files
What is MTWIN ?
- MTWIN is a small DOS utility which allows you to make changes to all sort
of INI files. You can add, modify and remove every entry in a INI file. In
addition to this, you have access to different informations like the Netware
Bindery, Environment variables etc...
- In the new windows versions access to the registery is possible too.
- MTWIN is very usefull for people using computers in networks. And it can be
used by individuals who have a laptop who is having multiple users or multiple
configurations.
- You can add a new entrys to the SYSTEM.INI with simple commands
like &[386enh]device=vshare.386. Of course all other INI files can
be modified too.
- Support for PROGRAM.INI is included too. So you can add and
remove program manager groups.
- You can modify the program manager groups as well. You decompile the GRP
file into a INI file, then do all changes to the INI and finaly recompile it
back in a GRP file.
- When you use a Novell Netware network (V3.x), then you can access the
bindery to test for group members, fullnames and a lot more.
- NET.CFG and SHELL.CFG files can be modified too. So
it's simple to upgrade your installation from NETX.EXE to VLM.EXE.
Of course, changing the number of filehandles, the preffered server and so on
are no problem either.
How much costs all this ?
- MTWIN is eMailware, this means, it costs only a single message to me
(Please use the form at the bottom of this page). There are no additional costs
to use this utility. But since all the enhancement requests and supportquestions
take a lot of time, I am thinking about changing it to Donnorware.
- The DLL version of this utility is NOT eMailware. But it is
available for 200.-- SFr. or 150 US$
- If you need a library (Watcom C++), then you can get it too, for 400.--
SFr. or 270 US$
- If you need the source code to be able to rebuild it yourself, 650.-- SFr.
or 500 US$ (But you will not have the right to include the source for other
products, not even in compiled form.
- If you would have the source code without any restrictions, then you must
pay me 2'000.-- SFr. or 1'500 US$ (The only restriction is, that you don't have
the right to sell the source code without major changes applied to it)
In these prices, there is included an update (via eMail) to all versions you
request for one year, and support for the usage of the product for one year too.
The products are distributed at no fee via electronic mail. If you need a
postal delivery, then add 15 SFr. (10 US$) for europe and 15$ for shipping
outside europe. If you need something faster than normal postal delivery, then
ask me for the taxes.
When you create shareware libraries (on CD or on any other way), then you
have the right to include it at no fee. If you produce a CD-ROM, then it would
be nice, if you send me a copy of the final CD-ROM.
Why is MTWIN eMailware ?
- When I first began to install Windows 3.0 on the network, I found many
problems when multiple users shared one system.
- So I looked for a small utility to do all kind of modifications to INI
files. But either they could not handle the device= statement in the SYSTEM.INI
file, or they costed much more than I lked to pay for them.
- These C++ versions are called MTWIN (since another utility was already
called maintini) and the versions are starting from 2.00.
- So I started with my own batch-editor for INI files. The first versions
(V1.xx) where written in Turbo Pascal and called maintini.exe. But since I had
problems with the limitations of Turbo Pascal, I switched to Watcom C++.

- Each time I released a new version of MTWIN, I get 2-10 enhancement
requests for new features I haven't implemented in the current release. So the
functionality expanded step by step.
Where can I get MTWIN ?
- The beta versions can only be downloaded from this web-server, or requested
via the listsserver.
